Please join us for a day of ambrosial bliss featuring watercolor painting and floral arranging classes on October 6, at Front Porch Farm, California.
The day’s activities will be held on a 110-acre organic farm located along the spectacularly lush Russian River in Healdsburg, CA, which specializes in specialty cut flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables, heirloom grains and Rhone-style wine grapes. www.fpfarm.comSaturday begins with a stroll through the farm’s abundant flower fields for inspiration, followed by a morning of watercolor painting with floral artist Helen Dealtry. Using handpicked arrangements from the farm, guests will paint several studies in watercolor and ink as Helen leads the class through a range of floral-painting techniques. From mark making to loose abstraction, Helen’s style is accessible to both beginners and advanced painters, allowing them to create a personalized painting in bloom.
For lunch, expect a delicious meal lovingly prepared by farm owner and host extraordinaire, Mimi Buckley, served in the serenity of the rose garden.
Following lunch, guests will partake in an afternoon of floral arranging with florist and farmer Zoe Hitchner. Under the guidance of Zoe’s extensive knowledge and floral skills, guests will create lush, rambling arrangements to capture the farm's bounty.
We are also thrilled to have the talented fine art photographer, Paige Green with us to capture each student’s creation for their portfolios.
Zoe Hitchner is a florist turned farmer who has been managing the farm's flower fields and design studio for the past four seasons. She loves the haphazard loveliness of nature and her work celebrates the wild beauty found therein. In 2017, she started a residential flower farming apprenticeship through which she teaches aspiring farmer/florists the ins and outs of her craft.
Helen Dealtry is a painter and textile designer known best for her distinct hand-painted floral designs and watercolor workshops. Her classes, which she hosts several times a year, have hosted men and women of all ages from across the globe, and cover a broad range of expertise. She specializes in hand-painted design, and throughout her career, has worked with leading names in the fashion and interiors industry on limited-edition collaborations, in addition to selling original artwork and her line of lightweight floral scarves.
We look forward to seeing you amongst the flowers!
